  • Double Tourbillon 30º

Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey spent four years bringing their first invention to fruition. A 60-second carriage rotates inside a four-minute carriage measuring 15mm in diameter. The former is inclined 30° to the latter. It contains a variable inertia balance and balance spring with a Phillips curve. The two carriages comprise 128 components and have a combined weight of 1.17 g. The 30° inclination of the smaller carriage's rotation axis in relation to the rotational speed of the two carriages allows the balance wheel to permanently oscillate in all positions.

  • Quadruple Tourbillon

Each of the four tourbillons in the Quadruple Tourbillon independently contributes to an exceptional level of accuracy. A spherical differential transmits the combined precision of the two autonomous oscillators, each built according to the same principle as for the Double Tourbillon 30°, and therefore doubles the chronometric performance of the two regulating organs. This also minimises the slightest variations in the oscillators' performance.

  • Tourbillon 24 Secondes

The third fundamental invention, the Tourbillon 24 Secondes plays on speed of rotation to resolve the problem of exposing the oscillator to critical positions in relation to gravity. The lowest variation in positions is no longer achieved by means of an average, but by a more rapid change in position. This faster speed significantly enhances the performance of a single-tourbillon system. A new inclined gear profile and an ultra-light tourbillon carriage counter the problem of mechanical stress imposed by this high speed. The 88 components in the Tourbillon 24 Secondes system weigh just 0.39 g.
