Established in the USA then in England.

Industrialisation of watchmaking: development of a system called “American System of Watch Manufacturing” (interchangeability system).

1850
Establishment, with Edward Howard and Samuel Curtis, of the future Waltham Watch Company (established at Waltham - USA, in 1954): first watchmaking factory to produce perfectly interchangeable parts of movements. It met with success creating competitively priced watches.

Founder of a watch case factory in Birmingham (GB).
