Developed invar (abbreviation of invariable, name proposed by Genevan professor, Marc Thury), a steel and nickel alloy, to make precision pendulums: pendulums with an invar shaft.

Development of elinvar, steel and nickel allow containing chromium and tungsten, to make self-compensating spirals.
