French clockmaker.
Clockmaker to Louis XV, Louis XVI, the Queen and, in 1795, the Republic.
One of the first French clockmakers to use the anchor escapement.

1793
Invented a combined anchor-spring escapement, difficult to make at the time. Revisited by Audemars Piguet watchmakers, in 2006, it produced a new direct impulse escapement (2006) which competes with the Swiss anchor escapement that has dominated for the past two centuries.
