Fleurier au fil du temps
Fleurier through the ages
The watchmaking heritage of Fleurier unfolds on a history walk
On June 12th 2010, Val-de-Travers officially launched Fleurier au fil du temps, an hour-long walk that brings to life the watchmaking heritage of Fleurier.
The opening was attended by representatives of Fleurier's watch Manufactures, including Parmigiani Fleurier, Chopard Manufacture and Piaget, federal and local government representatives, and guests.
Speeches were made by Mrs Laurence Vaucher, curator of the regional museum, and Messrs Florian Serex, director of Vaucher Manufacture, Jérome Baratelli, a teacher at the Geneva School of Art and Design, and Jean-Nat Karakash, councillor for Val-de-Travers.
Fleurier through the ages - Concept
Walkers discover a village steeped in two centuries of watchmaking history. As well as shedding light on this rich past, Fleurier au fil du temps also looks at the place watchmaking has in Fleurier today. This window on Fleurier's prestigious Manufactures offers a glimpse of the very private world of authentic fine watchmaking.
Fleurier through the ages – Description
The walk begins at Fleurier station and winds through the village, taking in its most significant buildings along the way. More than a walk, it is an open-air history book.
Brochures in English, French and German include a map and reproduce text from the information panels along the walk. They can be picked up free of charge from the station.
