L.U.CEUM - Traces of Time

Located in the Chopard Manufacture in Fleurier, the L.U.CEUM invites visitors to follow the traces of time. An inventive museography highlights masterpieces of watchmaking from different periods and regions of Europe. Retracing five centuries of history, the collection is divided in themes, including Chopard L.U.C watches.

Opened in 2006 for the tenth anniversary of Chopard Manufacture, the L.U.CEUM was Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's wish for years. The name "L.U.CEUM" is a neologism, inspired by "L.U.C" (Louis-Ulysse Chopard) and the latin word "lyceum", a place of learning. In the L.U.CEUM, today's watchmakers study antique masterpieces to create movements and watches of the highest quality. The watches and clocks presented in the L.U.CEUM are arranged in thematic areas: "great achievements", "the measure of precision", "traveling with time", etc. Antique historical watches are juxtaposed with thematically related models from Chopard's contemporary L.U.C collection. Alongside timepieces crafted between 1500 A. C. and the present day, the L.U.CEUM also provides space for modern and contemporary artworks devoted to the theme of time.
