Heritage Manager

All watchmaking brands that pride themselves on their long history seek to collect and preserve their most significant timepieces. The heritage manager develops, suggests and implements a strategy for the promotion and preservation of this historic heritage. His/her main task is to maintain the collection of ancient timepieces, enriching it with acquisitions while documenting and organising it. He/she also oversees the restoration and maintenance of timepieces selected for the museum. This museum could also act as a documentation centre for which the heritage manager collects any information or iconographic documentation that could be useful for the brand’s history. The key motto in this profession is: “bring past treasures to life”. With a university degree or a qualification judged equivalent, the heritage manager also masters basic marketing notions.

  • Master’s degree in history or art history with a specialisation in industrial history – this education is available at most universities – 5 years, experience in brand heritage management.
