Chamferer (working by hand using a file / piercer)
Once manufactured, the components of a movement are rough and must therefore be worked by hand in order to give them a faultless appearance. The chamferer is in charge of this operation. Using special tools such as a file or a piercer, the craftsman enhances the piece by softening its edges, removing any remaining burrs and polishing selected areas. The profession of chamferer rests on the acquisition of real expertise through practical experience. Training in watchmaking or the equivalent is necessary for this profession.
