Micromechanic (/ mechanic in microtechnics)

(in French: Micromécanicien (/ mécanicien en microtechnique))

The micromechanic is responsible for programming and monitoring the machining of a lump of raw metal from which they fabricate a watchmaking component. For this purpose, he/she programmes the digitally controlled machines, which then cut the material to the correct proportions. Micromechanics work as part of a team and sometimes in shifts over 24 hours. Above all, this profession requires rigour and a logical mind. Vocational technical schools provide the necessary mechanic’s qualification that enables a person to take up this profession, once he/she has actively updated their skills.
