Glashütte - A New Rival for Geneva?
23 March 2007 - English
Very few geographical areas are closely associated with fine watchmaking. Among these are Geneva, the Vallée de Joux, Neuchâtel, La Chaux-de- Fonds, and Le Locle, all of which have gained reputations as horological powerhouses. Every year thousands of visitors seek to quench their horological thirst by marveling at the watch museums in these places, or by touring famous watch factories such as Audemars Piguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Ulysse Nardin, or Girard-Perregaux, to name just a few. In the Jura mountains close to the French border, small to large firms manufacture not only complete fine watches, but also provide many of the tiny components so essential for the manufacture of most of the extraordinary watches built in the world and especially in the city of Geneva.
