Big Bang Unico Sapphire All Black
Hublot 2016
Hublot celebrates ten years since the launch of its All Black concept, which introduced the novel idea that a watch's primary function was no longer necessarily to give the time. This new Big Bang continues to disrupt the natural order of things with a virtually invisible exterior that renders the Unico movement all the more visible. This "invisible visibility", a reflection of the brand's belief there can be "no future without innovation", is created from blocks of crystal which have been metal-coated to obtain a smoked effect. Hublot has transferred its experience in machining extra-hard materials such as Magic Gold, an alloy of gold and ceramic, to develop an industrial expertise and democratise sapphire cases. Until now, sapphire-cased watches were one-off pieces, or at most proposed as very limited editions. In contrast, the Big Bang Unico Sapphire All Black is produced as a 500-piece series.
