GMT-6 Enamel Double Back

Voutilainen 2016

Unisex

Kari Voutilainen has accustomed us to watches whose irreproachable mechanisms are paired with a flawless aesthetic. This new version of his GMT is no exception. For the movement, the master watchmaker has chosen a balance spring with a Breguet overcoil for the exterior and a Grossmann curve for the inner terminal. Another unusual feature is that the movement has two escape wheels that provide direct impulse to the balance via the roller. This type of escapement uses less energy and is more efficient than traditional lever escapements. The movement, which was developed and made from start to finish at the Kari Voutilainen workshops in Môtier, Switzerland, also has an integrated GMT mechanism with a 24-hour disc display and a day/night indicator. Each press on the crown advances the disc by one hour. This watch is further demonstration of Kari Voutilainen's extraordinary command of hand-guillochage. The centre of the silver dial is embellished with a delicate trompe-l'oeil pattern, which is then covered with translucent red grand feu enamel. The same artistry is evidenced on the double caseback.
