Louis-Antoine Breguet

French horologist.
Trained in Paris under his father, Abraham-Louis Breguet, and in London, under John Arnold.
On the death of his father, in 1823, he took over at the head of the business, established in 1775. He retired in 1833, handing over to his own son, Louis-Clément.

He was awarded a Gold Medal for his marine chronometers and complication watches at the 1827 Exhibition of French Manufacturing.
1830
He invented a keyless winding and setting system, operated by the crown. Breguet failed to patent his invention, which would be taken up by rival watchmakers.
