Frame

Cage ou bâti | フレーム | 框架

J.C. Nicolet defines the frame as the chassis inside which all the parts of the watch movement are housed.

A Clock frame comprises two plates whereas a watch, and in particular wristwatch, frame comprises a plate to which other elements known as "bridges" have been screwed.

The frame of vintage watches comprises two plates joined by four pillars.
