Do black, grey and brown leave you cold? Hermès turns up the colour on one of its most recognisable collections with this kaleidoscopic version of the case which Henri d’Origny designed in 1978. The familiar asymmetrical, stirrup-shaped lugs are still there; what's new are the bold, vibrant colours (green, but also blue, red and yellow – the colours of the horse-head pawns in a classic French children's board game). The Cavale motif is outlined against the dial, which combines champlevé enamel, lacquer and transfer techniques. Hollows are made in the base then filled with lacquer. A matt tone-on-tone transferred chevron pattern brings the finishing touch. In steel, with a 36mm diameter, this Arceau Casaque takes us racing through time back to our childhood days.
