To imagine a timepiece as a means of artistic expression: this is the role of Greubel Forsey's Art Pieces, which this year reach their crowning achievement with an Edition Historique, limited to 11 pieces in platinum. Immediately, the observer is struck by the multi-level construction, and by the famed double tourbillon 30° set majestically against a royal blue background. Positioned above it, against this same blue, are small seconds while power reserve, hours and minutes occupy a significantly higher plane. Unusually, the hours are displayed by a red hand on a disc; minutes appear only on demand, when the crown-fitted pusher is pressed. This Edition Historique is truly a bold interpretation of time's passing that invites us to consider a more philosophical relationship with temporality.
