Hublot brings the electrifying colour of the Paraíba tourmaline to the Big Bang – a stone whose rarity is such that, on average, only one is found for every 10,000 diamonds mined; hence why its value exceeds that of the traditional precious stones of diamond, emerald and ruby. Adding complexity to rarity, Hublot has chosen to set the bezel of this Big Bang with baguette tourmalines. This cut requires stones that display a perfectly uniform colour. Even after selection and cutting, a third will ultimately be discarded due to insufficient quality or uniformity. These factors combined explain why Hublot is making just four of this Big Bang Unico Paraíba. The movement is the in-house UNICO HUB1242, a skeletonised chronograph calibre whose column wheel is visible on the dial side.
