Breitling was already using the Chronomat name for some of its 1940s watches, when the word was a portmanteau of “Chronograph for mathematics”. Then in 1984 Chronomat became the abbreviation of “chronograph” and “automatic”. Accordingly, this new release is equipped with Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, a COSC-certified chronograph movement that provides up to 70 hours of power reserve. The ultimate versatile watch, it features a tachymeter scale as well as a rotating bezel with interchangeable "15" and "45" rider tabs for counting up (originally for aviation) or counting down (for a regatta). The integrated "rouleaux" or "bullet" bracelet with folding clasp provides another instantly recognisable design cue.
