Stemming from a long consideration of the horological genius of Ferdinand Berthoud, Chronomètre Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1 embodies a modern vision of the timepieces the master might be creating were he alive today.
Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, President of Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, wanted this exceptional timepiece to carry on the work of the master chronometer-maker from a contemporary point of view, guided by the same innovative spirit while taking inspiration from his marine chronometers. Contained within an imposing octagonal case with watertight portholes, Chronomètre Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1 is fitted with a hand-wound mechanical movement comprising more than 1,120 components. Developed and made in Fleurier by Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, this FB-T.FC calibre features a tourbillon with central seconds, a distinctive pillar-type architecture, an innovative suspended fusée-and-chain regulating system, and a mobile cone to indicate power reserve. Patents have been filed for each of these features.
