DB28 Yellow Tones
De Bethune 2019
Renowned for its command of thermal oxidation of metals, illustrated by its instantly recognisable blued titanium dials, De Bethune again plays with fire, this time to produce innovative yellow tones – the careful transformation by heat of grade 5 titanium. Applied to the case, to the dial, as well as to most of the movement parts, this technique brings an astonishing mix of amber and tawny shades to the DB28. Set against this innovative aesthetic, completed by intermediate-sized floating lugs with a design tweak, the manually-wound movement brings its own set of innovations: a spherical precision moon phase, a high-performance escapement, a triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system, and a six-day power reserve whose linear indicator, in browned steel, is visible on the back, surrounded by the superlative finishing on the movement.
