Defy Double Tourbillon

Zenith 2019

ref. 40.9000.9020/78.R582
Men's

Two years ago, Zenith took the wraps off the Defy El Primero 21, the only serial-produced, high-frequency Chronograph capable of mechanically measuring hundredths of a second. In 2019, the brand introduces an additional layer of technique by fitting the calibre with a double tourbillon. One of the tourbillon escapements operates at 36,000 vibrations/hour to precisely regulate hours and minutes. The other, beating at 360,000 vibrations/hour, drives the chronograph hand once around the dial in one second for ultimate precision. Each function, timekeeping and chrono, thus has its own regulator within a dual-chain movement. Chronometer-certified by TimeLab in Geneva, an independent body, this Defy Double Tourbillon is made as ten pieces in platinum and 50 in carbon.
