Zenith is renowned for mechanical chronographs of unparalleled precision. This new Defy Extreme is one, as it tracks time to within a hundredth of a second, shown by a central hand that makes a complete rotation of the dial in one second. This is achieved thanks to the movement’s two escapements: one for the timekeeping function and one, running at a much higher speed, for the Chronograph. Chronograph seconds are read from a subdial at 6 o’Clock, with chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock. Small seconds at 9 o’clock and a power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock complete the symmetrical layout. This rugged, all-terrain watch comes in a robust 45mm case in titanium and pink gold that is water-resistant to 200 metres. The case’s sharp lines and more pronounced edges, along with a tinted sapphire dial, underscore the technically advanced nature of this aptly-named Defy Extreme.
