Presented as a limited edition of 50 pieces, the Diva’s Dream Peacock Dischi has a marquetry dial of natural peacock feathers. A technique that can be traced to Antiquity, marquetry was revived and brought up to date by Bulgari in the 1970s. No fewer than five hundred feathers are scrutinised and only those with the required texture and colour selected. They are steamed to bring out their natural lustre, pressed, then the 24 individual elements for the marquetry are hand-cut and assembled into a silken mosaic. This delicate craftsmanship is echoed by the expertise behind the time display, which comprises two rotating disks: the inner disk, which replicates the “eye” of a peacock feather, shows the hours with a round diamond, while the outer disk shows minutes by means of a pear-cut diamond. The lugs and bezel are covered in diamonds, with sapphires for the hour markers.
