The e-Crown – short for electronic crown – replaces the crown's function with an automated setup system. The e-Crown watch "learns" by registering the time that is set manually using the caseback lever. This becomes the reference time for future monitoring, automatic setting and adjusting. At least once a day, e-Crown checks the time shown by the hands and, if needed, automatically adjusts. When the watch isn't worn, e-Crown goes into sleep mode until the watch goes back on the wrist. Using the wearer's movements to produce its autonomous energy supply and able to set and register multiple time zones, it makes its debut on the Type 2 e-Crown Concept watch. Innovative, practical and precise, this watch also boasts the patented dial system and a lightweight titanium case for comfort.
