Excalibur Spider Carbon
Roger Dubuis 2017
Excalibur Spider Carbon square
Light as air, precise as a spider spinning its web,
the Excalibur Spider Carbon taps into carbon's remarkable properties to win
over fans of ultra-technical watches. First the case, a combination of
multi-layer carbon and vulcanised rubber. Then the movement plate and bridges,
which are made entirely from carbon, as is the tourbillon upper cage. This is a
feat in itself, made all the more remarkable by the extreme skeletonisation
which exploits the qualities of T700 carbon. Also in carbon, the
honeycomb-pattern dial shows off the Astral Skeleton flying tourbillon
movement, which has shed 30% of its weight to facilitate rotation of the upper
tourbillon cage. Anchored in motorsport aesthetic and cohesively complex, this
28-piece limited edition is mounted on a red strap with fabric-like high-tech
rubber inlay.
