This watch is a faithful interpretation of the military observation watches that IWC was producing in the 1940s, with its large conical crown, strap with four rivets and legible dial. Released in 2002 as the Big Pilot’s Watch reference 5002, its has never strayed from its functional design. This three-hander returns to the extreme purity of the original observation watch, having neither a date window nor power-reserve display, in a resized 43mm steel case for enhanced wearability. With a choice of blue or black dial, the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 is fitted with the in-house 82100 calibre with automatic Pellaton winding, a highly efficient system that uses even the smallest movements of the rotor to wind the mainspring for a power reserve of up to 60 hours. Water-resistant to 100 metres, this Big Pilot’s incorporates the new EasX-CHANGE strap change system, with the option of a stainless steel bracelet.
