Hannibal Minute Repeater Westminster Carillon Tourbillon Jaquemarts
Ulysse Nardin 2015
This watch depicts the Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca in his epic crossing of the Alps with his army and elephants. The main figures, transformed into Jaquemarts, together with the mountainous scenery are sculpted from 18k white gold and mounted on granite. The Jaquemarts are brought to life by a minute-repeater movement, Calibre UN-78 with one-minute tourbillon. The repeater strikes four notes (Mi-Do-Re-Sol) on four gongs to sound the hours, quarters and minutes each time the function is activated. The movements of the four Jaquemarts are exactly synchronised with the chimes. This combination of a tourbillon minute-repeater with Jaquemarts on a wristwatch dial is sufficiently rare to warrant attention.
