HM Perpetual Moon Gold
Arnold & Son 2020
Earth's satellite has pride of place on this watch by Arnold & Son, thanks to a moon-phase display whose aperture takes up almost the entire upper portion of the dial. Two moons in sculpted and engraved solid gold, each over a centimetre in diameter, travel across a starry sky on a blue lacquered and guilloché rotating disk. The manual-winding movement, which stores 90 hours of power reserve from twin barrels, fulfils its task to power this precision moon phase that requires a single adjustment of one day every 122 years. And there is more: visible through the sapphire back, Arnold & Son has added a second moon-phase indicator on the reverse side in the form of a subdial and pointer. One push of a corrector button adjusts the pointer hand and syncs the moon-phase display. A shimmering aventurine dial creates a wonderful deep perspective for this celestial watch in red gold, manufactured in a limited edition of 28.
