Horological Machine N°9 Sapphire Vision

MB&F 2021

Men's

When MB&F launched the Horological Machine N°9 in 2018, founder Maximilian Büsser described its movement as very probably the most beautiful the brand had ever developed. It therefore stands to reason that, three years later, it should get its very own starring role inside a transparent sapphire case. This is a major technical achievement, given how notoriously difficult sapphire is to machine, and more so when creating the three-dimensional shape inspired by the aerodynamic profile of 1940s and 1950s automotive and aeronautic designs. In all, it took 350 hours to machine and polish the components for the outer hull of the HM N°9 Sapphire Vision, produced as four editions of five pieces each. Moreover, a patented three-dimensional gasket combined with a high-tech compound bonding process seal the sapphire crystal into a case that is water-resistant to 30 metres. Visible from all angles, this complex engine has purple PVD accents for added pep.
