Maximilian Büsser made no Secret of his intentions when he launched his brand: bring the best watchmaking talent together to produce some of the most innovative watches around. No exception to the rule – if MB&F can be said to have rules! – is this Legacy Machine Thunderdome, which combines the complementary skills of two watchmakers: Eric Coudray for the engineering and Kari Voutilainen for the movement design. Their names are inscribed on the back of this spectacular timepiece (a limited edition of 33 pieces in titanium). It took the two men four full years of development to bring to life the breathtaking TriAx triple-axis Tourbillon that not only rotates on three separate planes but does so at record speeds of 8, 12 and 20 seconds. From the front side, set against a stunning light blue guilloché backdrop, the tourbillon surges forth, surmounted by a classical dial perched at a 58° angle. All this beneath an impressive sapphire dome. The view from the back is no less enchanting, thanks to design and finishing by Kari Voutilainen. Rounded bridges, mirror-polished curves and sharp hand-bevelled internal angles elegantly frame the power-reserve indicator. A horological work of art.
