Code 11.59 Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie
Audemars Piguet 2020
Audemars Piguet has longstanding expertise in chiming mechanisms - Grande Sonnerie, petite sonnerie and minute repeater – and so it comes as no surprise to see the brand present these complications in a watch whose mechanism and design go beyond the ordinary. The manual-winding Calibre 2956 incorporates a grande sonnerie enhanced with the Supersonnerie technology that the Manufacture introduced in 2015. The chimes are as loud and crisp as on a pocket watch, thanks to this technology’s patented gongs and case construction: the result of eight years of research in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). Equally unique, the dials for the five watches in this limited edition are enamelled then embellished with gold paillons that are over a century old. They are the work of celebrated enamel artist Anita Porchet. A trilogy of one-of-a-kind dials is completed by two further examples that Ms Porchet and her atelier will craft to the buyer’s exact wishes.
