Perpetual Moon "Year of the Ox"
Arnold & Son 2021
Arnold & Son presents an eight-piece limited edition of its high-precision moon-phase complication, decorated with a buffalo in honour of the Year of the Ox in the traditional Chinese calendar. In the upper section of the dial, a generous moon formed from mother-of-pearl, with hand-painted shadows and applications of Super-LumiNova®, shows the age of this heavenly body. The dial itself is in specular hematite in laminated form, which naturally contains silvery flakes in its black mass. A miniature sculpture in gold, the buffalo stands in front of a scenery of tiered pagodas which are hand-painted with gold powder. Their windows are also highlighted with Super-LumiNova® to create the impression, in dim light, that these temples are lit up inside. The movement, which offers 90 hours of power reserve, integrates the mechanism for the precision moon-phase indication that requires a single adjustment of one day every 122 years.
