Watchmakers have found a new way to express their imagination, with "aesthetic complications". Cartier provides a stunning example with the Révélation d'une Panthère. The dial and hands are surmounted not by a conventional crystal but a sapphire capsule, inside which some 900 tiny gold beads swim in a transparent fluid. The viscosity of this liquid has been precisely calculated so that the gold spheres trickle across the dial with a slow-motion effect at each flick of the wrist, briefly forming the face of Cartier's treasured feline before breaking up again. This fleeting glimpse is made possible thanks to channels that are "grown" into the sapphire. Also proposed with a green or black lacquered dial.
