Since 2016, Hublot has developed remarkable capacities for shaping and colouring sapphire. After transparent, smoked black, blue and red, yellow is the latest addition to its palette of shades and a world-first, showcased in the Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire. This sunshine colour comes from the fusion of copper with aluminium oxide into a yellow sapphire that retains the mineral's characteristic properties of transparency, scratch-resistance and hardness (sapphire measures 9 on the Mohs scale; only diamond is harder). This Spirit of Big Bang is therefore exceptionally resistant yet feels as light on the wrist as titanium, weighing just 107 grams. Produced as a 100-piece limited edition, it is powered by a high-frequency, skeletonised automatic chronograph movement, the HUB4700; in fact the Zenith El Primero calibre which has been given the full "Hublot treatment".
