Tambour Spin Time Air
Louis Vuitton 2019
Ten years ago, the Tambour Spin Time introduced a completely novel interpretation of the jumping hours display. Instead of a conventional central hand, hours are shown by way of 12 rotating cubes. Every 60 minutes, one of the cubes instantly flips to show a "neutral" side, handing over to its neighbour which spins to show its "distinctive" side. The same principle underlies this anniversary model, with the difference that the watchmakers at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton have succeeded in concentrating the movement into a much smaller area, leaving the cubes to spin in the empty space between two sapphire crystals. This Calibre LV88, with 35 hours of power reserve, is concealed under an LV monogram on the three men's versions, and by two superposed Monogram flowers on the four women's models which also stand out for the gem-setting on the cubes.
