Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges - Aston Martin Edition
Girard-Perregaux 2021
Early in 2021, Girard-Perregaux announced its collaboration with famed British automaker Aston Martin. This watch is the first to cement the two partners’ alliance with a highly contemporary take on the iconic, late-nineteenth-century Three Bridges pocket watch. A sapphire crystal box is fitted on each side of the 44mm case in grade 5 titanium — a hypoallergenic alloy chosen by Aston Martin for its strength and light weight. The emblematic three bridges, in titanium with a black PVD treatment, span the dial to create the impression that the movement is levitating between the sapphire panes. The lyre-shaped cage is typical of the tourbillons made by Girard-Perregaux during the nineteenth century. It incorporates small seconds, shown by a blued hand. Directly above it, at 12 o’Clock, the openworked barrel reveals the mainspring. Under the barrel sits the micro-rotor whose outer edge is engraved with the Aston Martin name that glows in low light.
