First presented in 2015 to mark Vacheron Constantin’s 260th anniversary, this ultra-thin, split-seconds chronograph movement with automatic winding is both complex, comprising 473 components, and prestigious, being one of the thinnest for this type of complication at 5.2mm high. The beauty of 950 platinum presides over the refined exterior, from the 42.5mm case to the bezel, the crown and, of course, the dial where, in addition to the traditional chronograph counters and the two hands for the split-seconds function, an indicator at 6 o’Clock keeps track of the two-day power reserve. This clean, supremely legible layout can be seen as a counterpoint to the intricacy of the movement that can be admired through the sapphire caseback, unobstructed by the peripheral oscillating weight in gold. As a final flourish, the dark blue alligator strap is stitched with platinum thread.
