While remaining faithful to the DNA of Ressence, the Type 1² differs distinctly from the rest of the collection in its design and material. Born from the intersection of six spheres, it has a cushion-shaped case made thinner by the absence of the rotating sapphire caseback that acts as a crown.
Instead, the crown is replaced by a retractable lever that adds a new visual and, when handled, physical effect. When setting the time, there is a 1:1 correspondence between each rotation of the lever and the minutes disc on the dial: an up-to-date reminder of the key once used to wind clocks. Type 1²'s patented ROCS module is driven by the minute axle of a customized, self-winding 2824/2 base calibre. It is a state-of-the-art horological complication composed of 107 parts. Type 1²'s functions are seconds, minutes, hours and days of the week. Their subdials continually revolve, as does the main disc into which they are set - like moons in orbit around a planet.
