The Ressence Type 5X takes its cue from the Lancia Delta Futurista, an automotive icon of the Eighties whose turbo-charged engine must be allowed to gradually warm up prior to racing, then left to cool down before switching off. Fortunately for the driver, these critical phases can be monitored by two distinct sets of markings on the bezel. The first is graduated over 15 minutes, corresponding to engine warm-up, and is marked S for start, D for drive and R for race. The second, marked by a red triangle, corresponds to a 10-minute cooling-down phase for the turbos. Simply rotate the unidirectional bezel to measure the corresponding interval. Like every Ressence watch, time is disruptively displayed by means of three off-centre biaxial satellites that show hours in a large subdial, minutes by a central hand and seconds in a small subdial. Another small subdial monitors oil temperature. Indications are engraved and filled with lume. As a final touch, the numeral 10 is replaced by Ressence’s specially designed tenth-anniversary symbol that melds the Roman numeral X with an hourglass.
