Weap-One Diamond Asymmetrical Flying Tourbillon
Rebellion Timepieces 2020
First presented in 2017 and developed in collaboration with Concepto and Edge Team, Rebellion's Weap-One substitutes a sapphire and titanium tube for a conventional case with, inside, an asymmetrical flying tourbillon. This remarkable watch returns in 2020 with the first ever tourbillon cage to be made from synthetic diamond – an unbreakable, scratchproof material used by the aerospace industry. This high-tech component is made by the Japanese firm Adamant Namiki Precision. It takes 40 days to grow just one millimetre of flat atomic diamond; that's 280 days for the seven millimetres needed for the tourbillon cage. Add to this 80 days of plasma fusion polishing and, from beginning to end, production of the cage takes an entire year. Another feature of this Weap-One is its transformability: sit it on a desk, carry it in your pocket or attach it to a dashboard. Or wear it on your wrist.
