Defy 21 Double Tourbillon Sapphire
For this latest edition – limited to 10 examples – of the fastest tourbillon chronograph around, Zenith has opted for a case made entirely from sapphire. The movement is equipped with two independent tourbillons. The tourbillon for the timekeeping mechanism beats at 36,000 vibrations/hour and rotates once in 60 seconds, while the tourbillon that regulates the chronograph mechanism beats at 360,000 vibrations/hour and makes a full rotation in 5 seconds. This ultra-high speed enables the chronograph to measure intervals with 1/100th of a second precision and translates visually in the movement of the chronograph seconds hand, which sweeps the dial once every second. This rush of time is suggested in the movement finishing, with a blue PVD treatment on the main plate together with engraved stars to suggest the infinity of time and space.
