Grandmaster Chime Ref. 5175
For its 175th anniversary in 2014, Patek Philippe produced a collection of commemorative timepieces which includes the Grandmaster Chime, the Manufacture's most complicated wristwatch to date and one of the most complicated in the world. Such sophistication comes not only from the number of complications but also the horological complexity of this watch. It is, in addition, the first double-face wristwatch by Patek Philippe which can be worn with either dial facing upwards, according to whether the wearer is more concerned with timekeeping indications and strikes, or with the instantaneous perpetual calendar. The 47 mm case houses a full 20 complications, including grande and petite sonnerie, minute repeater, instantaneous perpetual calendar with four-digit year, second time zone and two patented world-firsts in striking mechanisms: an acoustic alarm and a date repeater that sounds on demand.
