It’s not our first time mentioning the legendary designer Andrew Grima, who collaborated on different collections with Omega. One. Already covered on Watches and Culture, the highly exclusive and artistic ‘About Time’ collection that initiated the partnership and others that were more accessible, named Time in Style, jeux d’Or, Jeux d’Argent, and the Emerald line, all of which are incorporated in the De Ville collection.

Inspired by the forward-thinking, organic, and futuristic-looking About Time collection, the De Ville line throughout the 1970s paid tribute to the original designs made by Andrew Grima.

The De Ville collection, as its name implies, still consisted of dressy, jewelry-oriented watches but they were relatively more formal and easier to wear in comparison to the original About Time exclusive creations.

The watches combined angular-shaped cases and dials with unusual and organic bracelets.

Mostly crafted in silver or gold, these bracelets represent the epitome of craftsmanship of the 1970s, as they were hand-engraved and assembled by hand, chain by chain.

Finally, to top it all off, the sapphire crystals were faceted on each edge, providing a unique depth of field, amazing reflection on the dial, and shining chains of the bracelet.

These De Ville watches, inspired by the incredible work of Andrew Grima, are truly unique propositions that look like nothing else.

Still relatively affordable, it’s time to grab one.

However, if your thing is more about jewelry, I can advise you to have a look at Grima creations, where Francesca Grima and her mother perpetuate the unique vision and spirit initiated by Andrew Grima while bringing their true personal touch.
