Clutch

离合器 Clutch Embrayage

Glossary

Thematic Technic, Transmission

A coupling which temporarily connects two rotating parts, one driving and one driven.

In a chronograph mechanism, the clutch temporarily connects two wheels. One wheel transfers power from the mainspring to the other.

Depending on its position on the winding stem, the sliding pinion transfers power from the rotating of the crown to:

  • the mainspring when winding;
  • to the hand gear train when setting the time.
