1858 Geosphere Chronograph 0 Oxygen LE290
Inspired by its partnership with Nimsdai Purja, an accomplished mountaineer who summited the world’s 14 highest 8,000-metre peaks in a mere seven months, Montblanc has removed the oxygen from this new 1858 Geosphere Chronograph. As well as its symbolic value, zero oxygen has real benefits as it eliminates the fogging which can occur at high altitude and prevents oxidization. In addition to the chronograph function, this 1858 Geosphere continues to indicate world time with its distinctive display of rotating globes for the Northern and Southern hemispheres, on a 24-hour scale combined with a day/night indicator. The bidirectional bezel in black ceramic is paired with a 44mm case in titanium, the back of which is laser-engraved with a depiction of Mount Everest for a 3D effect. Nimsdai Purja will test the watch in real-life conditions when he undertakes an expedition to the top of Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen.
