Striking Mechanism
The recently released Grande Sonnerie reference 6301P enters Patek Philippe’s regular collection. The movement is a new 703-component calibre, derived from the Calibre 300 that equips the Grandmaster Chime reference 6300, that is distinguished by three classic gongs and patented jumping seconds. Two pairs of series-mounted barrels provide 24 hours of power reserve for the chiming mechanism and 72 hours for the movement. Both these power reserves are indicated on the dial. This is the first Patek Philippe wristwatch to offer a grande sonnerie – the grail of watchmaking complications - in this pure form, complemented by a petite sonnerie and a minute repeater. This grand complication is indeed an event long awaited by collectors.
