Hand Made 2
Greubel Forsey’s commitment to traditional handcraftsmanship was given notable expression in 2019 with Hand Made 1 — a watch made using only hand tools and hand-operated machines, with no CNC machining whatsoever. Six years later, Hand Made 2 shares this philosophy: 96% of components, including the balance spring, made in-house by hand to tolerances measured in microns; meticulous finishing and production defined by the workshop’s capacity, hence just two or three watches a year. More than 5,000 hours of handcraftsmanship are needed to produce, finish and assemble the 270 components of this four-hand watch, showing hours, minutes, small seconds (at 5 o’clock) and the 72-hour power reserve. Framed by a white gold case (40.9mm across and 12.8mm high), the dial is open to show off part of the gear train, while the regulating organ (without a tourbillon) is visible at 7 o’clock, across from the barrel.
