Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux

In 2010 Van Cleef & Arpels unveiled the Pont des Amoureux watch, which was singled out for distinction at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. By means of a bi-retrograde movement, a gentleman and his sweetheart move from opposite ends of a bridge to meet in the centre at midday and midnight, where they kiss for three minutes before separating to again indicate the hours and minutes. The scene can be played on-demand for a dozen seconds. Four precious versions add to the collection in 2025, portraying the couple at dawn, in the morning, in the evening and by moonlight. Each decor is crafted in coloured grisaille enamel. The outline of the bridge, in the foreground, is finely sculpted in gold to create an effect of depth. The scene continues on the reverse side, in enamel decal on sapphire crystal and engraving on gold. All four watches are worn on bracelets encrusted with diamonds and sapphires in a gradient: light or deep pink for the Aube and Soirée models, light or deep blue for the Matinée and Clair de Lune models.
