Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon
For its Watches and Wonders debut, Bulgari came to Geneva with a new “world’s-thinnest” — its tenth since 2014 — in the form of the Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon. At 1.85mm high, it “beats” the 2mm record for an extra-thin tourbillon that Piaget set in 2024. Coming hot on the heels of the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC (1.7mm high), this latest exploit retains the Ultra COSC’s 40mm diameter but with the addition of a tourbillon while mounting the hour and minute hands in a conventional coaxial display. Employing an identical strategy, the various components are arranged on the same plane, using the caseback as a movement plate which, as on the Ultra COSC, is made from tungsten carbide for greater rigidity. The caseband, bezel and bracelet are all titanium. Furthermore, Bulgari has succeeded in imparting astonishing depth to the movement in a watch no thicker than a coin.
