RM 65-01 Automatic Winding Split-seconds Chronograph McLaren W1

Richard Mille unveils the fourth model to come out of its collaboration, since 2016, with British automaker McLaren: the RM 65-01 Automatic Winding Split-seconds Chronograph McLaren W1 in a 500-piece limited edition. The brief for the watch required it to reflect the technical prowess and features of the W1 hypercar in terms of shape, materials and functionality. Accordingly, Richard Mille has equipped it with its most advanced automatic chronograph movement, the tri-compax RMAC4, beating at 5Hz or 36,000 vibrations/hour. This high-beat calibre enables the split-seconds chronograph to measure tenth-of-a-second increments while a vertical clutch and two 6-column wheels guarantee smooth and precise operation. The movement, which is mounted on silent blocks without a casing ring, incorporates a rapid winding mechanism via a pusher and a variable geometry rotor that adapts winding to the wearer’s level of activity. Two bezels top the 44mm x 50mm Carbon TPT® case: one in Carbon TPT® above a second in grade 5 titanium which, at its thinnest point, measures just 0.5mm thick. The openworked dial is modelled on the McLaren’s wheel rims. A pusher in the crown shifts through Winding, Date and Hand-Setting functions, shown as W, D and H by a hand at 4 o’clock.
